Hearth
Dearest,
And most treasured,
My beloved.
Come with me,
To my home,
And be of it.
Seek the shade,
In the canopy,
Of my ribs.
Lay your weary head,
Among the brambles,
And the sticks.
Hang your coat,
On the edge,
Of my clavicle.
Rest your hat,
On the curve,
Of my mandible.
Leave your boots,
Of a well-traveled man,
Over there on the mat,
Just below my sternum.
Bask in the hearth of my heart,
The candlelight of my soul.
I will share this warmth with you,
All the way to the coal.
So,
Walk with me,
To rest on the knoll.
Here,
With me,
You will have a home.
For I do love you,
All the way,
To the bone.
